Penticton's lauded poet Shane Koyczan unveiling new spoken word pieces about the pandemic

Penticton's most famous and lauded poet will be sharing some of his local experiences of empty arts and cultural spaces during the pandemic through a special spoken-word poetry series hosted by Vancouver's Chan Centre for Performing Arts.

Shane Koyczan will be featured in the Chan Centre's "Dot Com" series, which involves digital productions that can be viewed from the comfort and safety of home.

Koyczan's contribution consists of spoken-word exploring the impacts of the pandemic, the "amplified despair" of current times, and "searches for the missing needle of the compass that's left us feeling lost," according to the Chan Centre.

"Koyczan’s words are tractor beams drawing audiences into his electric narratives and spellbinding stage presence," they describe.

The production, filmed in February 2021, goes live via a virtual event March 12 at 7 p.m.

It can be viewed that evening at a premiere watch party or on demand via the Chan Centre, if you have an account, anytime until May 31.
