Penticton RCMP looking for witnesses to fatal hit and run

Witnesses sought in hit-run

Police are looking for witnesses in a fatal hit and run that happened in Penticton’s downtown after a vehicle struck a pedestrian and left the scene.

First responders were called to the intersection of Nanaimo Avenue and Winnipeg Street after a report of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle came in about 7:40 p.m. on Monday.

RCMP arrived on the scene, and a 68-year-old man with visible trauma was treated by BC Ambulance personnel.

The man was rushed to Penticton Regional Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The vehicle did not remain at the scene, police say.

“Penticton RCMP have many resources assisting with this investigation and are asking for any witnesses, along with any dash camera and surveillance video of this incident someone may have,” Const. James Grandy stated in a press release.

Anyone with information is asked to call Penticton RCMP at 250-492-4300 and quote file 2021-2374.
