Pedestrian struck along Main Street in Penticton, seriously injured

Pedestrian seriously injured

First responders were called on Tuesday night at 6 p.m. after a man had been struck by a passing vehicle in the 700 block of Main Street in Penticton. 

Witnesses stated they saw the man suddenly walked onto the street, possibly in an attempt to quickly cross the road. Then the man was struck by a passing vehicle and subsequently suffered serious injuries. He was taken to hospital and remains there in critical condition. 

"Police want to remind the public to always try and use a cross-walk, and make certain cars have stopped prior to stepping into traffic," Cst. James Grandy stated in a press release. "We are actively gathering evidence and continuing to investigate this serious collision." 

Police are asking witnesses to this incident who haven’t already spoken with officers to contact the Penticton RCMP at 250-492-4300.
