RDOS seeking public feedback on plan to purchase Sickle Point

Next steps for Sickle Point

The Regional District of Okanagan Similkameen is hosting a virtual town hall next week to seek taxpayer input on its intention to take out a loan to acquire a 4.8-acre parcel of lakefront land on Skaha Lake for conservation.

Sickle Point, as the Kaleden property is called, is home to key and unique wetlands, according to the group rallying to save it from development.

On Wednesday, Jan. 13, the RDOS will invite feedback via Webex meeting at 7 p.m., asking for public thoughts on the Kaleden Parkland Acquisition Loan Authorization Bylaw which would allow the RDOS to borrow up to $3.5 million to purchase the site.

RDOS staff will be on hand to discuss the financial impacts, alternative approval process and next steps.

The event can be accessed here, with access code 146 584 3334 and password [email protected]

Alternatively, you can join the audio-only version via telephone at 1-833-311-4101 toll free. To enter the queue to ask a question, enter *3.

The event will also be broadcast on the RDOS YouTube channel.
