97 South Song Sessions festival to return to Penticton featuring best, brightest in the business

Meet writers behind the hits

The third annual 97 South Song Sessions is returning to Penticton in 2021, with tickets now on sale.

From July 23-24 at the Penticton Lakeside Resort and Penticton Trade and Convention Centre, pass holders will enjoy two 90-minute shows on back-to-back nights with a unique lineup at each performance.

The event is hosted by media personality Paul McGuire and featuring hit pop, country and rock songwriters from the U.S. and Canada.

The writers will perform unique acoustic versions of well-loved songs you will surely recognize from the radio, and share stories about how the songs came to be.

Grammy winner, Tim Nichols (Live Like You WereDying/Tim McGraw) returns to the show in 2021 and will assist 97 South with lineup curation.

“We’re excited to bring such a special lineup of world-class songwriters to our beloved Okanagan Valley and to introduce a national audience to this beautiful and fast-growing wine region,” says Robert Ott, director, 97 South Song Sessions and former music industry CEO.

“Our past audiences have found this event to be an unparalleled, pure music and storytelling experience. It’s a powerful performance and one of the most purely creative, intimate music happenings you’ll ever be part of.”

While the full lineup has not yet been released, it may include some of the songwriters from the cancelled 2020 festival like: Neil Osborne (54 40), Jeff Trott (Sheryl Crow), Gary O’ (.38 Special, Kim Carnes, Molly Hatchett), rising star Jessica Mitchell (Celine Dion, Trisha Yearwood), Grammy Nominee, Deric Ruttan (Dierks Bentley, Eric Church, Blake Shelton), and Liz Rodrigues (Celine Dion, Pink, Eminem).

"After being a part of the first 97 South Song Sessions, by the time I got home to Nashville, I was already looking forward to going back for 2021," said Tim Nichols . "The event founders had a vision to combine the gorgeous setting of the Okanagan Valley with amazing wineries, and some of the most talented singer-songwriters in Canada and the U.S."
