Penticton Museum reopening extends current exhibit on display

Museum reopening soon

Doors to the Penticton Museum & Archives will reopen on Tuesday, August 18 and continue with limited hours and access. The museum noted it will be adhering to all COVID-19 protocols governing public spaces. The archives still remain closed for the time being.

The featured exhibit Play Hard, Fight Hard: Sport and the Canadian Military, will still be on display until mid fall. It was originally scheduled to be gone mid-July, but the museum managed to arrange for an extension.

For those who haven’t seen it, the exhibit showcases many different sports from the 1880s to the present, represented through art, artifacts and photos. It includes details on why many athletes naturally gravitated towards the military, and the role military training has in contributing to a successful athletic career after their service.

The museum will be open to the public starting next week from Tuesday through Saturday, 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
