Mayor Toni Boot of Summerland has been in the media a lot lately speaking out against racism in the Okanagan, and she isn't showing any signs of slowing down. 

Boot has been booked to appear on Voices Unheard, a Kelowna-based live streaming series from Rebellious Unicorns that highlights the voices and experiences of "underrepresented members of society, including people of various racial backgrounds, sexuality, gender identity/expression, age, or ability."

Each Tuesday at 7 p.m., host Jessica Samuels talks to a different guest about the unique challenges and experiences they have faced, all 100 per cent live and unedited. 

On Aug. 4, Boot will be that guest, discussing her journey as a Black woman in local government during a politically-divisive and racially-charged time in modern history.

But the production company says that at Boot's request, conversation will not touch on recent racist tagging in Summerland and Boot's decision to publicly destroy confederate flag merchandise from a local store.

The livestream episode will be available free of charge here at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, lasting 30-45 minutes, and users who create an account ahead of time will receive a reminder Tuesday evening.

After the fact, viewers can subscribe to re-watch and access older episodes, with those who sign up in August receiving a 14-day free trial and the next 100 subscribers getting access for $6.99 per month after that.
