Stranded Summerland sailboat victim of mother nature, owner says

Sailboat still stranded

A sailboat that has been listing in the waters of Okanagan Lake north of Trout Creek since January has still not been moved, but the owner says he is still working on it.

Darone Davis has been waiting for the perfect conditions to move his vessel, while curious locals continue to ask Castanet for updates.

"I was waiting for the water to come up, and it started coming up and I pumped all the water out of it so it was floating for most of the spring," Davis said. "Then just recently we had a big wind storm and it blew it back up on shore."

Now he has to wait again.

"I was hoping to get it out last weekend," Davis said, adding it's now stuck in mud on the shore. "This weekend I'm hoping to have it towed out, it's a little bit more of a difficult job now, Mother Nature has not been cooperating with me."

Davis reiterated that there is no fuel leaking and it has not been abandoned.
