COVID-19 causes delays to an expected trial date for John Brittain

Virus pushes Brittain date

Accused quadruple murderer John Brittain still does not have a trial date.

At a pre-trial conference Thursday morning at which a date had been expected to be fixed, the judge cited scheduling problems due to COVID-19.

Supreme Court proceedings in B.C. were ordered suspended this week.

The Brittain matter has been pushed to April 20, in the hope of setting a trial date at that time.

All other details discussed in the pre-trial conference are protected by a publication ban.

Brittain is accused of killing four people in Penticton in a 2019 shooting spree: Rudi Winter, Susan and Barry Wonch and Darlene Knippelberg.
