Neighbourhood Brewing to go before Penticton council

Plans ready for new brewery

The public will soon get its first look at the final plans for Penticton’s newest brewery.

Neighbourhood Brewing Company will go before Penticton council on March 3.

Currently under construction at 187 Westminster Avenue West, the brewery is looking for an endorsement from city council to add a brewery lounge and special event area to its proposed brewery manufacturing & retail operations.

Construction began this past December, with occupancy planned for the summer of 2020.

There would be restrictions on outdoor patio service hours, with no amplified music after 11 p.m.

The lounge and special event area will allow patrons to host private functions separate to regular business functions and allow for musical performances.

Currently, nearby Slackwater Brewing has licensed late hour service until 2 a.m. and exterior patio use until 10 p.m.;  Black Antler Restaurant was recently approved for late night service hours until 2 a.m. with patio use until 11 p.m..; and Bad Tattoo has been operating since 2014 with service hours until 11 p.m.

If given council approval, Neighbourhood’s occupancy restrictions will be 98 persons for the main floor interior, 120 for the interior mezzanine, 100 for the interior special event area, and 153 for the outside patio.

Any public comments as a result of the public notice process will be compiled and forwarded to council for the April 7 meeting.
