Penticton soup fundraiser back for another year

Soup for a local cause

Hungry bellies can be filled while giving back to a local cause through the annual Discovery House "Soup is Good Food" fundraiser.

Every Friday at 11:45 a.m. starting Feb. 28 through April 3, find delicious, hearty soups donated by chefs in the community for just $6 including a fresh bun and a hot drink at St. John Vianney Church Hall on Wade Avenue.

Each week will feature 12-15 different vegetarian soup choices, with all proceeds going to the Discovery House's long term addiction recovery services right here in Penticton.

The event has only grown in popularity over the years, raising thousands of dollars and earning fans of the scrumptious soups. Past favourites include roasted red pepper, African peanut stew, vegetable chili, black bean medley and many more.

Soup is served up by volunteers from the Discover House, many of whom have gone through the many programs offered and can attest to their life-changing effects.

Stop by every Friday until April 3 from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. to eat in or take out a bowl, or get it delivered to your home or office for orders over $60, which feeds 8.

To set up delivery call Jerome at 250-462-1388, and if you are interested in donating a pot of soup, contact Blaine at 250-809-6075.
