Family Day blast at SOEC

The South Okanagan Events Centre was the place to be for Family Day on Monday in Penticton.

Hundreds filled the facility and the outside plaza to enjoy fun and games, a family skate and playtime with the Penticton Vees alongside mascot Harvee.

This is the fourth year the city of Penticton and Spectra have put on the event at the SOEC and the Penticton Community Centre for Family Day. This year, organizers delivered on their promise to make the event even bigger and better.

“We’ve come every year for the past four years but this time there is more to do. This is the first year Bethel Church has been invited and it’s a really great addition with all these games for the kids to play,” said Penticton mom Nicole Morris, who came with her husband and kids.

From Plinko to a Nerf gun shooting range, kids were kept busy.

Parents Nicole and Jeff came from Summerland with their daughter Zoe to participate. They enjoyed the family skate together.

“It’s been awesome,” said Jeff. “We’d come back next year.”

Okanagan Photostar had many families smiling at their photo booth.

IGA Penticton was also at the SOEC offering a barbecue lunch by donation with proceeds supporting the Penticton Minor Hockey Association. Starbucks was supplying free hot chocolate and coffee.

Over at the pool, there was an all-day toonie swim
