Investigation Into Death

Penticton RCMP are trying to find out what killed a man Monday.

Paramedics responded to a call on Toronto Avenue just after 11 am and found a man in his late 50's. They also noticed the smell of gas coming from the home.

Corporal Rick Dellebuur says officials from Terasen Gas and the fire department were unable to detect any dangerous gas levels.

“At this point we don't know what killed the man, but we don't believe it was foul play,” says Dellebuur.

Coroner Phil Rogers says an autopsy will be performed.

“We did have a report there had been some gas problems at the home so we will take that into consideration. We will be looking at all aspects of what could have caused his death,” says Rogers.

He says the autopsy is scheduled for sometime on Tuesday but it could take several weeks to get the results.

The man's name is not being released.
