Critteraid Animal Sanctuary is low on food, and needs help

Hungry mouths need help

Chelsea Powrie

Critteraid Animal Sanctuary is running low on food, after a frigid January taking in many strays and looking at a busy kitten season coming soon.

That's why they are hoping the community will contribute to their February food drive.

Bosley's in Kelowna on Kane Road is spearheading the drive, and anyone who goes to the store all month can find a wish list of food and supplies from Critteraid available for purchase.

"This is really important, because we are coming off a really cold winter," animal director Jess Byer said, explaining they had a higher intake of cats than normal.

"And on top of that, we know that kitten season is going to be quite high. Last year we had just over 400 kittens through our care, and we know that's going to happen again this year."

Critteraid strives to provide care for animal that needs, but so many hungry mouths start to add up.

If you can't make it to Kelowna, a wish list and donation options are available online at Critteraid's website here

"At this point, we have to just prepare for the storm coming, and we can't do that without the public's help," Byer said.
