Fire at Penticton low-budget motel Sunday evening

Motel fire doused quickly

UPDATE 9:30 a.m. Monday 

Penticton fire department deputy chief Chris Forster says Sunday evening’s blaze at the Meadowlark Motel was a “quick knock down for them.”

Damage from the fire was contained to a single unit, with the on-shift crew making short work of the blaze, which was reported at 7:55 p.m.

The fire’s cause remains under investigation.


ORIGINAL 9:40 p.m. Sunday 

The Penticton Fire Department doused a structure fire at the Meadowlark Motel Sunday evening. 

Emergency were called to the blaze at the budget housing complex at 2730 Skaha Lake Road shortly before 8 p.m.

Details of the fire were not immediately available. Castanet will update with more information Monday morning.

The Meadowlark Motel, along with the neighbouring Sun Valley and Mayfair Motels are primarily occupied by monthly tenants. The three properties sold to a Vancouver-based company back in 2018.
