Man Changes Plea

A man accused of negligent homicide in the United States has changed his plea.

Jerry Ambrozuk, a British Columbia resident, changed his mind at the last minute this week when entering his plea before a judge in Montana. He is now pleading not guilty to the charge of felony negligent homicide in the death of Dianne Babcock.

Ambrozuk was arrested in August after living as fugitive in the States for almost 25 years.

In 1982, he rented a plane in Penticton and flew with Babcock to Little Bitterroot near Marion.

He says they were in love and planned to land the plane in a lake, then swim to shore and start a new life together in the States.

Ambrozuk says the plane flipped over in the water and Babcock was unable to get out before she drowned.

His case will now go to trial.
