Kittens who were saved from culling are now ready for homes

Saved from being culled

Chelsea Powrie

A few months ago, all that kittens Espresso and Forest had in their future was a scheduled culling of their feral colony of cats.

Lucky for them, Critteraid Animal Sanctuary stepped in and saved them and many more, taking them in for medical care, spaying, neutering and vaccination, and acclimatization to humans in the hope that one day they would be ready for adoption.

Animal director Jess Byer is thrilled that that day has arrived.

"Considering where they started, on the street, we are so proud of them," she said. "They have shown us they want love, they want to play."

She estimates them at about five months old, and each one is ready for a forever home.

"We are looking for people who are willing to give them a nice, supportive home," Byer explained. "They are still a little bit shy."

She says once their trust is earned, they are both incredible affectionate and love to play.
