A 42-month sentence for drug charges has made South Okanagan RCMP very happy.
Afshin Makeki Ighani was sentenced Monday at the Penticton court house following a two-week trial.
Ighani, also called 'Rye,' is well known in the Oliver-Osoyoos drug community. He was found guilty on various drugs and weapons charges.
Police say his sentence sends a clear message to others involved in the drug trade.
Ighani was arrested in March 2006 after a two-month investigation, which also led to the arrests of five other people and the seizure of a large amount of cocaine, firearms and stolen property.
Also found guilty in the case were Laurie Williams, Steve Roberge, Greg Baptiste and Jorowar Singh Ganger. They received sentences from 12 to 30 months.
