A deadline to save the Penticton Secondary School Auditorium is getting closer.
The Okanagan Skaha school board will accept plans from local organizations to preserve the north gym only until March 31. After that, plans will be made to convert the space into a bus entrance and school tennis court.
School board chair, Larry Little, says the gym was never part of the planned upgrades for the school.
He says the new Pen-Hi will include a large gym with dividers and if the old gym is saved from demolition, the Ministry of Education will probably order a reduction of floor space from the new school plans.
A petition campaign has been launched to save the old gym from the wrecking ball.
