Rescue wasn't the end of the story for these farm animals

For the cows, pigs, alpacas, llamas and even a rooster at Critteraid Animal Sanctuary, their rescue was just the beginning of their story. 

Thanks to Critteraid, dozens of pasture animals have a safe forever home after being saved from various situations. 

Most recently, a pair of llamas were taken in by the sanctuary. 

"[It was] a situation where they weren't getting the care that they need," animal director Jess Byer said.

"And with that comes new fencing, new shelters, new structures needing to be built, and we are so blessed that our community comes out and helps us when these situations come up."

The farm is also celebrating their three baby cows, all of whom were in precarious health when they arrived at Critteraid last December. 

Now, all three are bounding about enjoying their lives. 

"For them, it's happy and blessed, and we can't do it without the community," Byer said. 

But the work never stops at the sanctuary. Byer said anyone can donate their time, money or services at any time, and can even direct their donation to a specific cause or animal. 

"You can just let us know,'" Byer said. "We will be so completely happy to put your money right into the project that you have your heart in."
