Metric Modular is downsizing in Penticton.
Metric Modular in Penticton is downsizing again.
The modular construction company confirmed to Castanet that 20 workers were laid off this week at the Penticton plant.
"We are downsizing in accordance to the softening of the market," reads a written statement from president Stephen Branch.
He said an overall decline in orders contributed to the decision.
"Metric Modular continues to work on existing projects and staffing levels had to be adjusted to support that work.”
In response to a request for information about the future of the Penticton plant, Metric said "we don't have any further comments."
The company has already been hit with layoffs and downsizing this year, losing 49 employees in August.
