OK College hosting Penticton city council meeting next week

OK College to host council

Okanagan College’s Penticton campus will be hosting next week’s city council meeting, following in the footsteps of a meeting held this spring at Penticton Secondary.

The city says the campus-based meeting is an attempt to engage youth and promote local government awareness.

“Council is once again looking forward to connecting with our community’s youth,” said mayor John Vassilaki.  “We all know how busy everyone is, especially our students. By creating an opportunity for young people to participate in local government by taking our meeting to them, council hopes to better educate our youth on the process and issues that govern Penticton.”

Okanagan College’s South Okanagan regional dean, Eric Corneau, says the meeting is an amazing opportunity for students to engage in community building.”

The meeting will take place on Oct. 15 at 1 p.m. and will be held in the college’s Centre of Excellence Building, room PC113. Parking is free but limited.
