Cats need companionship

The Critteraid Animal Sanctuary in Summerland is full of long-term feline residents that can get a bit lonely.

The nonprofit is always looking for volunteers to come to the grounds and provide companionship to the cats.

“We are really blessed with the sanctuary’s residents, that they offer such good therapy for people,” said animal director Jess Byer.

“Sometimes, everyone needs a good friend and cuddle and nothing beats a cat's purr. If you can’t have a cat in your life, what better place to be than out here at the sanctuary sitting on our beautiful grounds and giving love to some of these cats who otherwise don’t have a big family.”

“We are always looking for volunteers, just to come out a couple times a week or month to just sit with the cats and make their life feel more whole and happy,” she said.

To volunteer, contact Critteraid at 250-488-3226.
