Hit by car, abandoned

Chelsea Powrie

Marshall the cat was found abandoned after being hit by a car, struggling along with his injured leg.

He was alone and hurt for a few days, until someone found him and brought him to Critteraid Animal Sanctuary for care.

"Unfortunately, Marshall's leg was so deteriorated that we had to have it amputated," said longtime Critteraid volunteer Carolina.

Marhsall's left hind leg is now gone, but the feisty cat is making the best of it as he recovers from surgery.

"He actually took really well to it, and we think that he can live his full life," Carolina said.

She said Marshall will no doubt be an excellent candidate for adoption once he recovers.

"He is a super sweet kitty, he loves cuddles, he loves to be held, he is just a purr box," she said. "He has a wonderful, great personality."

In the meantime, though, Critteraid needs help caring for animals like Marshall, whose surgeries and care cost thousands of dollars.
