Sports cars drive for a cause

If you've ever dreamed of speeding around a world-class racetrack in a sports car, your chance has arrived.

A once-in-a-lifetime race track experience will be helping out the children of the South Okanagan in a few weeks at Area 27 Oliver.

The motorsports track and the OSNS Child and Youth Development Centre have teamed up on a Cars for a Cause event on Aug 1.

It's a chance for the public to experience the world-class venue and experience racing at the track designed by Formula 1 legend Jacques Villeneuve. The one-day event will feature a variety events, including exciting co-pilot rides on the track at high speeds.

Area 27 members are donating their time and luxury cars to those seeking a thrill. The purchase of a co-pilot ticket gets you time to meet your certified driver and admire your chosen sports car, 20 minutes on the track, a clubhouse reception entry, a drink ticket and swag.

Although typically the area is closed to the public, on this day everyone will be invited to come down. The grounds will be lined with cars, watercraft, motorbikes, RVs and more. Plus guests can check out Kartplex, the brand new go-carting track on the grounds.

Money raised will go to supporting children and youth throughout the South Okanagan. The OSNS Child and Youth Development Centre sees over 1,600 children annually and specializes in those with developmental challenges.
