Struggled on three legs

Chelsea Powrie

Critteraid Animal Sanctuary is looking for a forever home for a beautiful cat who had a hard time on the streets before she found her way to them.

"We received a call from a gentleman very concerned about a cat walking on three legs," said animal director Jess Byer. "We were able to send out our volunteers for the 911 emergency call and take her straight to our vet, where it was found that she had a huge abscess that was preventing her from using her leg."

Minnow had to undergo 24/7 supervision and was on heavy doses of antibiotics, but it was clear from the start that she was a fighter. Still, she had an uphill battle.

"She was in quite poor body condition, so the street was not where she was thriving at all," Byer said.

Her strong spirit prevailed, and now she is a healthy, happy cat looking for a permanent home.

Byer said she will be best as indoor cat in a household with no kids or other pets. She estimates Minnow is around 7 or so years old.

"She's really just happy to be inside having a good meal, snacks, a nice place on the couch and a warm place to sleep," Byer said.

Minnow is just one of many adult cats at Critteraid that need homes. For more information on Minnow or others up for adoption, call or text Byer at 250-488-3226. To keep up to date with the adoptable animals at Critteraid, follow them on Facebook here
