Meet 40 loving adult cats

Chelsea Powrie

Critteraid animal sanctuary is holding a two-day open house in an effort to find forever families for some of their 40 adoptable adult cats.

On June 21 and 22 from 12 to 6 p.m., the Critteraid farm will be open to people who call ahead and register for a tour, in order to control numbers and ensure all attendees get appropriate attention.

"We're really excited," said animal director Jess Byer. "We're going to be hosting a plant-based cookout by donation, with some amazing food, hosted by one of our amazing volunteers."

Dozens of cats will be available to meet, including kittens and older individuals.

"We're looking forward to having high adoption numbers," Byer said. "We have about 40 adult cats that we're going to be lowering the adoption fee to $100."

The events are free to attend, but Byer says the sanctuary is hoping attendees will being a small donation of non-perishable food, either for the cats or something that can be donated to the food bank.

To book a time on either Friday or Saturday to tour the farm, call Byer at 250-488-3226.
