Crews on new spot fire

B.C. Wildfire crews are dealing with a spot fire west of Penticton, north of Green Mountain Road.

Fire information officer Hannah Swift said they believe the fire started sometime overnight, 15 kilometres west of the city.

Four firefighters are currently on site and are setting up a water source. The fire is less than .1 hectares in size.

Nearby resident Kurt Hiebert told Castanet he spotted the fire around 3 a.m., but smoke and flames were no longer visible by sunrise.

The blaze, which BCWS is calling the Shatford Creek fire, is suspected to be human-caused.
