Egg-cellent Easter activities

There are plenty of egg-cellent options for Easter entertainment in the Penticton area this coming long weekend.

On Easter Monday, LocoLanding will be hosting its ninth annual easter egg hunt, featuring a staggering 10,000 eggs hidden in the area and on board the S.S. Sicamous.

"There will also be easter activities throughout the rose garden and area," said LocoLanding owner Diana Stirling. "And LocoLanding will have all of our activities open throughout the day at a discounted rate so that 100 per cent of the proceeds can go towards the Okanagan Similkameen Neurological Society Child and Youth Development Centre."

There will be craft stations at which kids can make bunny ears or colour their own Easter picture frame, as well as a special appearance from the Easter Bunny himself.

"He will arrive by firetruck, down Lakeshore Drive, arriving around the Sicamous and Rose Garden area at 11 a.m.," Stirling said, and yes, you can take a photo with him.

Seventy-five local teenagers have volunteered their time to run the event to ensure all proceeds can go to charity. It's all at a cost of just $5 per child, starting at 11 a.m. and ending at 1 p.m.

If you don't want to wait until Monday, another Easter event will draw crowds in nearby Naramata. The annual Easter Egg Drop will take place at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Manitou Park.

A helicopter will fly by to drop ping-pong balls that can be exchanged for candies and chocolate after the mad dash to collect.
