Sedins in B.C. hall of fame

The B.C. Hockey Hall of Fame located at the South Okanagan Events Centre will be inducting a pair of very famous faces this summer.

Daniel and Henrik Sedin, who spent their NHL careers as Vancouver Canucks, will be inducted at a ceremony in Penticton in July.

Blain Ford, executive director of the Hall of Fame, said the twins haven't confirmed their attendance yet, but an invitation has been sent.

Regardless, he guarantees the supper and ceremony event on July 19 will be worth attending.

"It's the 26th year that it's happened," Ford said. "It's basically, for one, a bit of a fundraiser for the B.C. Hockey Hall of Fame Society, and number two it just celebrates that year's inductees."

The Sedins join Barret Jackman, a player, Shane Heyer, a referee and linesman, Ron Delorme and Karen Wallace, team builders, and the 1997 South Surrey Eagles in being added to the Hall of Fame this year.

The event will see a series of award presentations, speeches and videos.

Ford also announced this week that the Hall of Fame will be donating $2,000 to the School District 67 breakfast program, using money gathered through the "Chuck a Puck" fundraiser held year round at Penticton Vees games.
