New principals at SD 67

The Okanagan Skaha School Board has announced several new principals and vice-principals across the district.

Scott Edwards will take over as principal of Giant’s Head Elementary as of Aug. 1. He is currently in charge of Queen’s Park Elementary; a position he has held since 2014. Prior to that, Edwards was principal of Kaleden Elementary and vice-principal of Giant’s Head.

Ron Manning will fill Edwards' former role at Queen’s Park. He comes to SD 67 from Richmond where he’s been principal of Kingswood Elementary since 2014. Before that he had an additional 14 years of experience in school administration and eight years of teaching experience.

Current vice-principal of Wiltse Elementary School Roland Holowaty has been moved to vice-principal of Columbia Elementary to fill a void caused by the departure of Carla Krekic, who accepted a position outside the district.

Jacquie Hicks is now a vice-principal at Wiltse Elementary School. She had previously been a teacher in the district since 1999, currently at West Bench Elementary.

“The Board congratulates all of the staff on their new appointments and welcomes Mr. Manning to the district,” a news release Tuesday says.
