Firefighter passes suddenly

The Oliver Fire Department has announced the death of one of its members.

“It is with heavy hearts the Oliver Fire Department announces the sudden passing of one of our members, Dwayne Emery,” the department said on Facebook Friday.

Emery has been with the department for more than 20 years and is listed on the OFD website as a member of its selection committee.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family,” the department concluded.

Nearby volunteer fire departments in Osoyoos and Anarchist Mountain offered condolences on social media.

“Our deepest condolences go out to our neighbouring brothers and sister at the Oliver Fire Department who lost one of their own yesterday. Our thoughts and prayers are with them and their families. Rest easy brother and thank you for your service,” the Osoyoos Fire Department said.

"Our condolences to your department, his family and friends from all of us at Anarchist Mountain Fire Department. Please let us know if there is anything we can do," AMFD said.
