Big girl needs love

Chelsea Powrie

Poppy is an almost two-year-old puppy who loves nothing more than cuddling and playing.

She is a large, mixed-breed dog who is up for adoption at Critteraid in Summerland.

"She needs an active home that has time to put in, at least three or four hours at least a couple days of the week when she can get in some good exercise and play," said Critteraid animal director Jess Byer.

Byer added that Poppy is an excellent candidate for training, because she loves to follow the leader and learn from her pack mates. But she's a large girl, so her eagerness to love and play isn't ideal for every family.

"We don't want her with kids under 10, just because she doesn't know her body size, so she can be a little cumbersome," Byer said. "But she means it in the best intentions, and the best loving way."

Poppy adores any outdoor activity, especially running and fetching chew toys, but her favourite activity is easily snuggles.

"She is the goofiest play ball you've ever met," Byer said. "She's just a bundle of love and joy, no matter what's happening. And her favourite thing to do is just be beside you, and she just wants to love everybody."
