Car fire a mystery in Oliver

RCMP may get involved after a mysterious car fire at the Osoyoos Indian Band community hall around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The owner of the vehicle was nowhere to be found when firefighters arrived to find the lone vehicle in the parking lot fully engulfed in flames.

Crews were able to take care of the blaze quickly in the “straightforward” operation, said Oliver Fire Department spokesperson Rob Graham. There are few details as to how the fire started, Graham said.

“The vehicle was fully engulfed so it can be hard to pinpoint what happened, but I’m sure the RCMP will get involved and have a look at it as well,” Graham said.
