Robbery, assault at 24/7

One man was arrested Monday morning after attempting to steal food from the 24/7 convenience store on Main Street in Penticton.

At 8:30 a.m. on Jan. 28, RCMP officers were called to the store by an employee after a man left the store without paying for several items.

“Once the man was outside, the employee ran after him. When outside, the man stopped, and an altercation took place in which the man allegedly punched the employee in the face," said Cst. James Grandy. "The employee was able to gain control of the man, while at the same time, calling 911."

Harley Jack, 33, was arrested at the scene for robbery and assault. Jack made an appearance in court and was remanded in custody pending a psychiatric assessment.
