A little over $36,000 was raised last weekend during the annual Winter Classic Hockey Tournament at Apex Mountain Resort.
The fifth year of the event in benefit of BC Children’s Hospital saw young hockey players from across the Okanagan, Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island compete.
"Year after year we have been able to surpass expectations with the help of all the families, players and volunteers involved. Playing hockey outdoor in the cold is fun, but to do it all together for such a great cause is what matters at the end!” said organizer Yannick Lescarbeau.
The Victoria Kings took the tournament crown with a 3-1 win over the Vancouver Thunderbirds. One of the Penticton teams, led by coach Jason Wild, took bronze.
