Many Vehicle Accidents

It was a busy day for the city's emergency services.

Despite four separate vehicle crashes that took place in Penticton on Thursday, no serious injuries were reported.

The first took place just after 10 a.m. at the intersection of Eckhardt Avenue and Winnipeg Street. Two cars collided after one slipped through the intersection.

Deputy Fire Chief, Dave Spalding, says the Fire Department was returning back to the station when they came across the accident.

"RCMP were already on scene when we arrived and they had it under control, but we stayed to help direct traffic," says Spalding.

The second accident happened just before 11:30 a.m. on Main Street near Industrial Avenue. One vehicle had its rear window smashed out after impacting with another vehicle in the intersection. The cause of this accident isn't known.

Two separate accidents took place within 20 minutes of each other at the intersection of the Channel Parkway and Fairview Road.

Two cars collided just before 3 p.m. and as officials were dealing with that scene, another two cars collided.

One man was issued traffic violation tickets totalling nearly $700 for failing to yield and driving without insurance.

The right-lane exit onto the Channel Parkway was blocked to traffic for about an hour as officials cleared the scene.
