Food safety was on the menu in Penticton on Thursday.
The main topic of a conference held at the Senior's Drop-In Centre was the safety of the public food supply and ways to maintain it.
Over 50 people gathered at the centre to learn about the safety of our food systems.
Organizer Cathryn Wellner says the safety of the food supply is something that concerns everyone.
“Food safety exists when all people at all times have control over the systems that impact their access to healthy food. How strange is it that we have easier access to highly processed foods than to organically grown foods?” says Wellner.
She says the more questions consumers ask about the origin of the foods they buy, the safer the food systems become.
