A major sporting event scheduled for Penticton has received some money from the provincial government.
The 2007 Canada Post Freestyle Grand Prix, the Men's and Women's NorAm Super G, and Super Combined will take place at Apex Mountain in February of next year.
The event will receive $40,000 from the 2010 Legacies Now Hosting BC program through the Provincial government.
The money is part of a $400,000 investment in major sporting events leading up to the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver and Whistler.
This will be the second year Penticton has hosted the Freestyle Grand Prix.
As many as 7,000 spectators are expected.
