Local film now streaming

A locally-shot and produced feature film hits streaming platforms today after winning multiple awards at independent film festivals.

Penticton-based Mutant Films, headed by Kate Twa and Ronan Reinart, is releasing The Orchard on iTunes, Vimeo, VHX, Google Play, Bell VOD, Shaw VOD.

The film has screened at 14 film festivals, winning Twa an award for best director at the Sydney Indie Film Festival and capturing best film at both the South Bay Film Festival (Los Angeles) and Portsmouth International Film Festival (UK).

The Orchard stars Matt Angel, Morgan Taylor Campbell and Chris McNally in a story about a brash Los Angeles talent agent who inherits a small peach orchard in Canada from an eccentric aunt.

Twa and Reinart recently moved their film company to Naramata and are also sharing a creative space with Tempest Theatre and Film Society. The groups are converting the old church and former home of Cowork Penticton on Eckhardt Ave. E into a film production studio and a black box theatre.
