A pair of gas leaks closed part of Jermyn Road in Penticton Tuesday afternoon.
Just before the noon hour, the fire department responded to a call about a gas leak at Penticton Secondary School.
Officials say crews working on the school expansion were attempting to fix a known gas leak when they accidentally hit a second line.
Due to the direction of the wind, three nearby homes had to be evacuated, but students didn't have to leave the school.
Work is nearly completed on the break and Jermyn Road is expected to be re-opened soon.
