Summerland residents who lost their family doctor with the retirement last year of Dr. Martine Lebel now have a solution.
The SOS Division of Family Practice announced Monday that former patients of Lebel's that have not already found a new family doctor in Summerland, Peachland or Penticton can have their medical records transferred to Dr. Murali Venkataraman at the Kelly Avenue Clinic.
Patients have until Dec. 31, 2018 to contact the clinic about having their care transferred there. After that, medical records will be stored with MedRecords, a website that securely stores records and will charge fees to have them transferred.
“For the remaining residents of Summerland who do not yet have a family physician, the physicians of Summerland are working diligently on recruitment, and are optimistic that we will have a new physician sometime in 2019,” a news release states.
In the meantime, those without a doctor can access care at the After-Hours Clinic located at the Rosedale Clinic.
Dr. Lebel retired and closed her practice back in May 2017.
