A proposed multi-million dollar high rise is one step closer to approval.
The Penticton Waterside Resort and Spa passed the first zoning step this week when city council voted to send the proposal to a public hearing.
The hotel complex would create three towers on South Main Street, on the property currently owned by the Skaha Tent and Trailer Park.
The three towers would create over 350 rentable rooms and would have a huge economic impact. Yearly property taxes would be about two million dollars.
Council is expecting intense public debate on this issue and has decided to hold a special public hearing on November 23 at the Trade and Convention Centre. Council has the option of voting on the proposal the same night as the public hearing or delaying a decision until the next meeting on December 4.
