New brew for SOEC

The South Okanagan Events Centre is celebrating its 10th birthday with a drink — specifically, a limited-edition pilsner from a partnership with Cannery Brewing.

The Power Chord Pilsner is "a light bodied craft pilsner with a crisp, clean finish," according to Patt Dyck, co-owner of Cannery Brewing. "It’s a delicious limited release beer that our team hand-crafted to enjoy while cheering on the Penticton Vees and while singing along with the amazing performers at the SOEC.”

SOEC general manger Dean Clarke explained that Cannery Brewing has been a corporate partner since the beginning.

"They immediately understood the vision we had for the creation of this celebration beer. The brewing team at Cannery Brewing created a very special craft pilsner that celebrates a very special milestone for the community gathering place that the SOEC has grown to become in Penticton," he said.

The celebration will also benefit the community. A portion of proceeds from the sale of Power Chord will go to the Canadian Mental Health Association South Okanagan Similkameen for local services.

The label was designed by Penticton artist Skyler Punnet, and is meant to capture the energy and excitement of a live concert. Power Chord will debut at this weekend's Penticton Vees home opener, Sept. 29 at the SOEC, and will be available at all upcoming Vees home games and concerts and events, while supplies last.

Power Chord will also be available at Cannery Brewing on tap and in six-packs.
