Things aren't going very well for Josh Dyck.
The three-year-old Summerland resident and his family were involved in a head-on crash on Highway 97 last month.
Family friend, Lynn Stearns, says Josh's paralysis is worse than originally thought.
"We all thought he was paralyzed from the waist down, but it is actually from the chest down. He has minimal movement in his arms and is on a respirator. He is also fighting off a fever," says Stearns.
She says his biological father and other family members are by his side at Vancouver's Children's Hospital.
Stearns says the news is more encouraging for the other family members hurt in the crash.
She says Josh's stepfather, Westley Quist, is scheduled to have repair surgery on his foot Wednesday and Josh's mother, Bernice, is out of intensive care.
