Fugitive caught 3 years later

A convicted South Okanagan drug dealer is back behind bars after skipping her sentencing hearing more than three years ago.

Laurie-Ann Williams, 52, was convicted in 2015 of seven counts of possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking.

She, however, failed to show up for her sentencing hearing on May 25, 2015 and had not been seen since, until her arrest Sept. 6 in Edson, Alberta.

She appeared in Penticton court briefly Monday, but her case was adjourned until Tuesday so she could consult her lawyer.

Prior to her 2015 conviction, Williams was found guilty in 2007 for four trafficking charges related to a massive drug bust in Oliver, that saw 12 ounces of cocaine, firearms, stolen property and $35,000 recovered.
