Big year for Terry Fox Run

Despite cool temperatures and slightly gloomy skies, Penticton's annual Terry Fox Run was a success.

"It went fantastic. We had some great help from the community, and a great team of volunteers, and we had over 200 people there. We raised more funds than we did last year as well," said organizer Kevin Harvey.

The event, which took place Sunday morning, raised more than $6,300 for the Terry Fox Foundation, which funds cancer research in memory of Fox's dream of a world without cancer.

Penticton's race saw plenty of positive people.

"The mood was great, everyone was in such a positive, upbeat attitude. Everyone was just there to support Terry Fox and what he was doing," Harvey said.

If you missed out this year, not to worry. You can walk, run, cycle or ride next fall.

"There will be a Terry Fox Run in Penticton next year. Whether I do it or somebody else, I would not let the Terry Fox Run leave Penticton," Harvey said.
