Boot to hold open house

Summerland mayoral candidate Toni Boot is holding an informal open house later this month to meet with residents.

The public event is scheduled for Sept. 26 at the I.O.O.F Hall at 9536 Main Street, beginning at 7 p.m. Boot said the session will be to meet locals and to hear what they would like to see done in the next four years.

She said she is "energized" to begin her campaign leading up to the Oct. 20 municipal election.

“I have been talking to many people about what they love about our town... and many have shared thoughts on how Summerland could be even better," Boot said in a news release.

Boot has spent the past four years as a councillor in Summerland. She'll be opposed by Janet Peake for the mayor's chair, who has also spent the last four years on council.
