Re-offender back in jail

A well-known South Okanagan prolific offender is back behind bars after being apprehended in Osoyoos.

The Penticton South Okanagan Similkameen Regional RCMP's Targeted Enforcement Unit picked up 42-year-old Jeffrey Pelly Wednesday night. At the time of his arrest, Pelly was wanted on two different warrants, one of which says he evaded police in August in a stolen pickup truck.

Pelly is also known to have re-offended just 12 minutes after he left the Penticton bail office from court two years ago, after being charged with theft.

"Great coordinated effort and intelligence led to this arrest. Habitual offenders like Pelly create a lot of crime and use a lot of resources. Very good to have him back in jail," said Cst. Liam McCready of the TEU.

Pelly appeared in court Thursday and was remanded into custody pending his next appearance Sept. 26.
