Semi drops mobile home

A semi-truck carrying part of a mobile home tipped over late Wednesday night just north of Penticton when turning a sharp corner on Highway 97, heading north.

Crews responded just before 11 p.m. at the hairpin turn between the Penticton Channel and Red Wing Resort.

Chris Forster, Penticton Fire Department deputy chief, said it's unclear exactly how the crash happened but he anticipated the driver took the turn too fast.

The highway was operating as single lane alternating traffic until just about 7:30 a.m. Fire crews, RCMP and Argo Road Maintenance all responded to the incident.

The semi-truck was the only vehicle involved and Forster said there were no reports of injuries.
